Q: What led you to a career in banking?
A: I got into banking thanks to a friend who worked at a community bank. They had an opening and wanted me to join them-that’s really how it all started! Once I got into the industry, I quickly fell in love with it. I even changed my major from Spanish to Finance, and the rest is history.
One of the most interesting aspects of my career is how my role has evolved alongside both my personal growth and the changing needs of our community. Banking is all about relationships, and as I built connections with individuals and nonprofits, I saw an opportunity for Queensborough to have a Community Relations Officer-someone to bridge the gap between our organization and the community’s needs. That’s how my current role was born.
Q: What was the most useful piece of advice you received in your career?
A: A piece of advice I often rely on is: “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” Thorough preparation is essential, both personally and professionally, to avoid setbacks, obstacles and wasted time.
Q: Tell us about one experience you’ve had that exemplifies being a banker or your role at the bank.
A: What I love about my job as a banker is that it goes beyond traditional banking. In my role, I help direct some of the bank’s resources into the community where they’re needed most. I especially enjoy working with nonprofits. When they come to us with an idea to address a local issue, we provide funding to support their vision. The best part is seeing that idea come to life to make a real impact.
Q: What would someone be surprised to learn about you?
A: People are often surprised to learn that I have been to Russia. I traveled there on a mission trip that was based out of an orphanage in Ivanovo, an experience that was both humbling and eye opening.

Q: First tap/click of the day?
A: Orange Theory or Workout App. It’s nice to do something for myself before have to get in mom/wife/work mode.
Q: Most used app?
A: Notes app and Instagram. I love to find fun recipes on IG, make a list in Notes and then head to the grocery store!
